Compressed Gases
Compressed gases play a central role in many industrial and pharmaceutical applications. Whether for production, analysis, or as an excipient – the quality of the gases must meet the highest purity and safety standards. Through comprehensive testing, we ensure that your compressed gas systems comply with regulatory requirements and operate reliably.
This ensures that compressed gas testing is both technically correct and fully covered regulatorily.

Water promotes microbiological contamination, which is why the moisture content in compressed gases is strictly regulated (max. 67 ppmV according to pharmacopoeias, classification according to ISO 8573). We measure the moisture content on-site and convert it into company-specific moisture values and ISO 8573 classifications.

The purity of process gases is often neglected, although they are product-contacting and influence cleanrooms. We test the particle content in process gases according to DIN ISO 8573.

Pharmaceutical compressed gases must meet the microbiological limit values of the purity classes, especially when in product contact. We use a microbial air sampler for sampling on agar plates, which are specified according to the EU Guidelines. In case of a positive result, germ identification is possible.

The Pharmacopoeia (Ph. Eur.) specifies a maximum concentration of 0.1 mg/m³ oil content, while
ISO 8573 uses class definitions. We utilize a special device that enables a defined sampling volume under controlled conditions. The compressed air is passed over activated carbon to adsorb oil vapor. The content of hydrocarbons (C6-C40) is then determined in the laboratory.

Using a mobile oxygen analyzer, the oxygen content in the compressed gas can be tested according to the requirements of the Pharmacopoeia (Ph. Eur.).

Pharmaceutical nitrogen must have a purity of at least 99.5% according to Ph. Eur., with trace gases such as CO, CO2, Ar, and O2 having limit values. We identify nitrogen and determine the content of these gases using a mobile gas chromatograph.

With appropriate short-term tubes, we determine, among other things, the content of: Nitrous gases, water content, oil content, carbon monoxide and dioxide, sulfur dioxide.

Using the ultrasonic transit-time difference correlation method, we determine the flow velocity of fluids.

We detect leaks to prevent losses and contamination.
